Joelle Milquet, Belgian Minister for Equality and Najat Vallaud Belkacem, French Minister for Women’s Rights, initiated a European network of ministers working on gender equality. The two ministers invited their colleagues to Brussels in order to discuss the situation of women’s rights in the EU. They acknowledged the lack of real equality and decided to launch a European network in order to organize cooperation across the EU on equality between women and men.
