The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR) adopted a resolution on Friday 26th September, making clear that LGBT Rights are human rights and showing its concerns about violence and discrimination against LGBT people.
A clear majority of 25 states voted for the resolution, with 14 against and 7 abstentions. The United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights, Zeid Al Hussein, is now requested to update his report on “discriminatory laws and practices and acts of violence against individuals based on their sexual orientation and gender identity”.
