Reading time: 1 minute

Being the first part of a Panel Series on Women, Peace and Security, hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in partnership with UN Women, the panel on “The Role of Women in Countering Violent Extremism (CVE)” strived to draw out "the linkages between women, peace and the security agenda, and strategies to engage women as leaders in efforts to counter violent extremism". According to the panel, women should be regarded as equal partners to counter violent extremism.

The panel, held on the 27th October 2014 in New York, is also regarded by its intiators as "kick-starting the Global Study to review 15 years of UN Security Council resolution 1325".
