While technological and scientific progress is speeding up and shapes everyday life in increasingly powerful ways, statistics show that the presence of women in the "STEM fields" (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) is still disproportionally low. Now, The Global Fund for Women and UN Women have come together in creating a petition that urges the UN, as well as national and regional institutions, to close the "Gender Technology Gap" and encourage women's participation in the fields of science and technology. The results will be presented to a number of international political figures on the 59th International Women's Day in March 2015.
