At the time of the Fourth World Conference on Women in September 1995, Ms. Barbara Lochbihler was working as the Secretary of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom in Geneva (WILPF), and thus involved in all the preparatory work and activism for the peace agenda of the Beijing Conference. Ms. Lochbihler and her colleagues organized a peace train from Helsinki to Beijing to listen to the concerns of Eastern European women along their way and to bring their demands to Beijing.
