In an open letter to European commissioner Věra Jourová (Justice, Consumersand Gender Equality), Ministers for justice, women's affairs or equal opportunities from 20 european countries called for a new equality strategy. While the European Union has made considerable progress, there ist still "unfinished business", says the letter to Jourová. A new, post-2015 strategy for gender equality should focus more closely on the discrimination of women and girls, and avoid turning it into a pure human rights issue, instead recognizing it as a structural and societal problem.
