Australia: human rights foundation publishes LGBTI-refugee guide

Reading time: 1 minute

The Kaleidoscope Australia Human Rights Foundation and K&L Gates have published a guide aimed at governments to aid in understanding, fairly processing and admitting LGBTI-refugees. Claims of refugee status on the basis of LGBTI persecution are regularly misunderstood, leading to a very low success rate of applications on the grounds of sexual orientation or gender identity. The guide hopes to support LGBTI refugees by offering practical guidance on interviews or by providing sample questions to governments and their officials.
