Ahead of the upcoming parliamentary polls, the National Electoral Council (CNE) has proscribed a gender quota based on parity and alternance. At least 40% of each parties candidates must be women, with the top positions shared alternately between the sexes.
Moreover, President of the CNE Tibisay Lucena calls for a collaboration of women across party lines, because main issues, such as violence against women, should stand above political differences.
