On Thursday, June 22, 2017 a group of renowned researchers in the field of Men's Studies and Health published a petition in response to the Leeds Beckett University's decision to close the Centre for Men's Health in August 2017. As a cornerstone for the fields of gender and critical masculinity studies in Europe, the Leeds Centre for Men's Health provided numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary research projects that examine the societal impact and ramifications of various masculinities. This space has served as a discussion forum for scholars who see a societal and cultural relevance for supporting positive images of masculinity. Petition organizers plan to present their case and list of signees before the Board of Governors and the Vice Chancellor.
