Country Case Studies
Research was carried out in eleven countries: Chile, India, Iran, Israel, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Serbia, Turkey and the United States. The case selection followed criteria such as variation with respect to religious denomination (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Judaism), the level at which the blending of politics and religion primarily takes place (state, political society, and civil society), and socio-economic status. Furthermore, a regional balance was sought. The research process started at the end of 2007 and was finalized in 2009.
