The European Women's Lobby (EWL) recently published a study titled "The price of austerity – the impact on women’s rights and gender equality in Europe". Whithin this study it was found out that women are particularly hit the hardest by austerity. This can be explained by the sector specific work of women. Women are in a far greater extent employed in the public sector and public services than men are.
