Dr. Yael Shmaryahu-Yeshurun is a researcher specializing in spatial policy, urban communities and spatial relations between groups of different ethno-national, religious and class backgrounds. Shmaryahu-Yeshurun researched the urban settlers communities (Garinim Toraniim and Ayalim association) in Israel’s peripheral and mixed cities, and developed the concept of" State-Led Ethno-Gentrification" to describe related policy and its implications. She is the fellow of a Marie-Curie scholarship at UCSD for 2022
