The Campaign #SayHerName was installed in late May to raise awareness for Black women, who suffer from police violence, including harassement, beatings an killings.
Initiators complain, that Black women's experiences have been excluded by recent media coverings of police violence against Black people, which focused solely on men: “men and boys are seen as the primary target of racial injustice. (...) This has led to the idea that women and girls of color are not doing as bad, or that we’re not at risk at all”, says Rachel Gilmer, associate director of the African American Policy Forum (AAFP).
